SPEAKERS

  • Welcome & Introduction
  • 10:10 AM - 10:50 AM IST

Metaphors are a great way to understand anything. Explaining testing is a complex activity and many people fail to do this well. All throughout my life in testing I have been explaining testing to people using metaphors. Many times I have built great connections with people with metaphors that work with them. In this talk, I would like to take complex things and explain them through metaphors people can connect to.

This helps people to use metaphors to explain things and hence ease out communication issues. We all know communication issues amount to 90% of the problem at the workplace. My talks are usually in simple English that most people can relate and connect to.

Sit at the comfort of the chair or sofa at your house, keep your laptop or phone away (not too far away) grab some popcorn and enjoy this talk.

Software testing industry is no exception to chaos. There is so much chaos, confusion and blurriness in the whole industry that testers themselves are not sure of their identity and line of work. The majority of the testers are running behind the latest trends and pay so little attention to the testing skills. Why is this fear? What is the path ahead? Who can help us by showing the path ahead?

Ajay is known to emphasize the importance of testing skills and this talk is no different. He is combining the ideas from the book Ikigai and applying it to everyday testing activities to discover the purpose of testing.

What is your testing Ikigai? What drives you everytime you test? Join Ajay as he promises to take us through the following:
– Ikigai and what can we learn
– Current state of industry and testers
– Applying Ikigai principles to testing
– How to enjoy testing

Motivation: Nowadays, researches are looking for adaptation of Machine Learning algorithms to testing processes to reduce the manual effort and improve quality. In this talk, we will discuss in detail Machine Learning practices with a case study.

Problems: Testing efforts are potentially able to be minimized in all stages.

Solutions: We start with a quick view of the machine learning types. Then, we list AI applications in testing these perspectives: test definition, implementation, execution, maintenance and grouping, and bug handling.

Stages in which AI is applied are:
• Test definition
• Implementation
• Automatic code generation
• Code completion
• Execution: exploratory testing.
• Maintenance and grouping,
• Review test code.
• Heal broken test code.
• Prioritize test cases.
• Constructing suites
• Bug Management.
• Triage
• Classification
• Assignment

Results & Conclusion: We see how ML helps in all stages. What’s more, we do not only present existing AI applications but also what can be done in the future. Finally, we summarize the application areas with algorithms and discuss the advantages and potential risks of AI applications in software testing.

To sum up, we target at an important problem, AI-based applications of software testing. As more and more researchers try to use AI techniques to solve the traditional software problems, “what and how we can use” becomes more crucial. AI is one of the hottest topics in software world nowadays. Especially mining valuable information from bugs can be made use of by managers to guide feature priorities. We make the outline well organized and easy-to-follow. We introduce the applications in different stages of testing, that makes audience easy to find what they want.

With the Covid-19 impacting our everyday lives, it has also brought some changes in behaviour and perceptions, Organisations that were rigid in opening up doors for remote work have also adopted to this change, and with this new ways of working the challenge is tracking people progress, and deadlines,

How can you ensure that you and your team help the organization achieve its objectives during this phase? How can you track and deliver quality software without any compromise on the quality? Continuous Testing will be key. By Continuous Testing, we don’t just mean “Test Automation.” We mean the process of executing automated tests as part of the software delivery pipeline to obtain feedback on the business risks associated with a software release candidate as rapidly as possible.

Key Takeaways:

Join this session to explore why Continuous Testing is essential for DevOps. You’ll learn:

  • What Continuous Testing requires from the tester
  • The steps you can take to ensure that you’re prepared for this transformation
  • How the role of QA can and should shift from the reactive role of validating requirements to a more proactive “quality engineering” role that involves protecting and optimizing the business

I come from a household of high achievers. Our parents never asked to be awesome in what we studied. They always had this unsaid expectation. Luckily, I did really well throughout school, college and university. I like to think I got my dad’s sense of achievement and my mum’s great way of organising her tasks. From my teens onwards, I started developing a high sense of perfection for every-thing I took on. However, I did not realise that having this high bar was slowly consuming me.

I will talk about how the desire to be awesome slowly engulfed me. The need to be constantly producing high quality deliverables added stress to my life and slowly started to burnout. I will also talk about how I learnt to create some coping mechanisms for myself and help not only me but also those around me.

Key Takeaways

Traditional Non functional testing has started losing its importance into Agile and at times NFT-Performance testing teams have seen the sunset. Just looking at performance testing as a loadrunner output and signing off based on the same will not add value or insight into agile delivery. My talk focuses around how one needs to reconfigure and look at it from a Performance Engineering perspective where we have a Strategy to look at it right from logging across environments, to live monitoring dashboards not just around app code parameters but at infra level and beyond.

Key Takeaways
Performance Engineering strategies you can take back to your projects and apply irrespective of the domain.

It is a well-known saying in India “Yatha Raja tatha praja” Which literally means that the public is as good as the King. If we need to see an effective and efficient team, we need to see what kind of leadership (and not managers) the team has. If an organization wishes to build wealth, management must ensure that teams are led by leaders and not managers. Through this session, we will try to find out some intrinsic qualities that we must develop in order to become a leader.

Applications are moving towards a digital first intiative where they expect their customers to have an ability to access applications from anywhere, on anything and anytime. Architecture in an application are changing from monolithic to microservices. With complexity increasing at every layer every engineering department is under pressure.

Testing as a discipline is undergoing a shift , we are at an inflection point where there is a debate on going on what kind of skills are required in a team , do we need functional testers in team or we should hire only SDET.

But who is an SDET, what skills they should have and how they can contribute to a team. Even more important is can we scale our existing teams to this new role or should we even do it. What is the right mix of skills in team .

I would answer all these questions in my talk based on my learnings with multiple customers in last 5 years .
